Life in the Parsonage was wondering if sewing was like riding a bike. Sure enough, it all (pretty much) came back to me. I spent more time than I should have getting my machine set up, but once my needle was threaded I was ready to go. My original plan was to sew my covers so that they would be permanent. With 3 kids, a dog (and a husband) I was bummed because I knew they would get dirty. Lucky for me I scored big-time when searching blogland and found a couple of awesome tutorials for pillow covers (that can be removed & washed!) at
The Pleated Poppy and
Cluck. Cluck. Sew Perfect!
I could go on & on about the proces that took all afternoon & evening (for those of you who know me you KNOW I stayed up until past 12:30am finishing all six...) but instead I will just show you the results. I'm
pretty happy over the moon with how they turned out!
Here they are! Front & back view. I quickly realized that I would NOT be able to line up those stripes, and I think the different fabrics on each pillow is great. Can you see the flaps? So excited about this!
Here are my "big" pillows
...and my little ones.
Doesn't my couch look happy with pillows? A much needed improvement. Now, if i could just keep the dog off them... =)

Oh my goodness Cort...it is so funny that you broke-out your sewing machine because just this morning I decided to give the one I got for Christmas a try!:) Let's just say it took a good 45 min to get it ready to use though...that darn bobbin and needle just don't like to cooperate sometimes!:)
I LOVE the pillows you made! So adorable and the fabric is fantastic! I am wanting to make some pillows for our couch too...who knows when I will get to it though:)
Oh Grace, tooo funny! You got a new one, eh? What is it? I had to buy a new one b/c I lost my mom's old one that I had always used... did you read my post from yesterday? took me FOR-Ev-ER to thread the needle too. HA! So many super-cute sewing ideas out in blogland. Especially for baby girls!!!! Have fun & let me know what you make!
SO CUTE! I'm gonna have to check out those sights too.
Your couch looks so happy...and like it wants you to nap on it :)
